To find out the are of a square you multiply a side twice.Therefore,Whole rectangle area:(32+8) * (8+8) = 40 * 16 = 640 sq. ft.Two small squares:2 * (8 * 8) = 2 * 64 = 128 sq. ft.We substract:640 - 128 = 512 sq. ft.
